How will this jacket keep my child warm?
We've developed your jacket for intense winter conditions: cold, snow, blizzard. Warmth comes from thick wadding (double layer on the body), a synthetic insulating component thanks to the air stored in its fibers. We've added a wide, wadded inner flap under the main zip to block the passage of cold air. According to our laboratory test, at -17°C, 70% of children are in thermal comfort.
However, each individual has his or her own sensitivity to the cold.
How does the jacket protect my child from the elements?
This jacket has been designed with a waterproof outer component that blocks the passage of water and wind. In winter, to stay warm, it's important to protect your extremities (head, hands, feet). The anti-blizzard hood with removable synthetic fur, wrist cuffs and high collar keep the cold out.
WATERPROOF JACKET
The waterproofness of a jacket is not limited to that of its components: the technique used to assemble the various parts is also an assessment criterion.
Whether thermally bonded or sewn and then waterproofed, the overall waterproofness of your jacket is measured using a shower test developed by Decathlon, which simulates rainfall of different intensities.
So this waterproof jacket protects you from a downpour, i.e. 12 cm of rain in 2 hours.
WATERPROOF JACKET COMPONENTS
The waterproofness of a fabric, ensured by a coating or membrane, is measured in Schmerber or mm H²0 (pressure exerted by a column of water). The higher the number, the more waterproof the fabric.
This jacket features a waterproof component (JIS 1092 standard) resistant to 5,000 mm H²0 (Schmerber) before washing.
What does "100% seam-sealed" mean?
Your jacket is totally waterproof thanks to its taped seams. The seams of a garment are made waterproof by placing waterproof adhesive strips inside the garment, preventing water penetration in this sensitive area.
We validated its waterproofness under a specially designed shower reproducing the conditions of a 2-hour downpour. We had it tested by children on hikes to ensure that it fulfilled all expected functions.
A practical jacket with clever details
Clever, practical details: 2 outside pockets with flaps, 1 secure inside pocket for cell phone, 2 inside mesh pockets for gloves, etc. The main closure has a zip puller and the press studs a thumb loop, so kids can open and close their jacket without taking off their gloves, and the same goes for you.
Children easily soil their belongings. Can I wash this jacket regularly without damaging it?
To ensure the durability of our products, we carry out tests on the chosen components: resistance to rubbing and abrasion, colorfastness, resistance to repeated washing.
It's best not to wash the synthetic fur on the hood. It is detachable, so you can remove it before putting the jacket in the machine.
If really necessary, we recommend washing the fur by hand, then air-drying it.
How should I dress my child for snowboarding?
To dress properly in winter, whatever your activity, we recommend applying the 3-layer principle:
layer 1: technical undergarments allow moisture transfer to keep the skin dry.
layer 2: the second layer (fleece, sweater) provides warmth and moisture transfer.
layer 3: the jacket protects against external conditions: rain, snow, wind.
The whole garment must be breathable to evacuate moisture.
How do you preserve the technical qualities of this jacket?
Care products: machine waterproofing spray or liquid. To regenerate the fabric's water repellency and optimize your garment's performance throughout its life, we recommend using these products at least every time you wash.
How to care for my product
To care for your product, we recommend closing the zips for washing. Machine wash at 30° - normal cycle. No bleaching. Tumble-dry at moderate temperature. Do not iron. Do not dry clean. Always make sure garment is completely dry before storing in a dry, dark place. Avoid chemicals such as bleach, which may affect color and thermal insulation.
