How will this jacket keep my child warm?
This jacket features a double "ball fiber" wadding filling that offers an interesting alternative to feather:
- like feather, it's composed of multiple fibers that have a great capacity to trap air and thus insulate from the cold
- it has a good thermal insulation capacity even when wet
- it's easy to care for: machine wash and tumble dry.
What is the comfort temperature of my jacket?
We are carrying out a comparative study in a thermal laboratory under walking conditions with a light wind (5km/h).
Comfort temperature is the air temperature calculated so that 70% of users have a "slightly warm" thermal sensation.
For this jacket, it is -5.5°C.
However, each individual has his or her own sensitivity to cold.
How does my jacket protect me from the elements?
Your jacket has been designed with a waterproof outer shell (wind and water protection). In winter, to stay warm, you also need to protect your extremities (head, hands, feet). The warm, waterproof, adjoining hood with fur (fur not removable), ribbed cuffs, high collar and central zip with windproof underflap keep the cold out. This jacket has 6 pockets, 2 of which are soft and warm.
How can I be sure that my jacket is 100% waterproof?
The waterproofness of a fabric, ensured by a coating or membrane, is measured in Schmerber or mm H²0 (pressure exerted by a column of water). The higher the number, the more waterproof the fabric.
This jacket features a waterproof component (JIS 1092 standard) resistant to 5,000 mm H²0 (Schmerber) before washing.
What does "100% seam-sealed" mean?
Your jacket is waterproof thanks to 100% taped seams. Waterproof adhesive strips on the inside of the garment make the seams watertight, limiting water ingress in these sensitive areas.
How should I dress for cold-weather hiking?
To dress properly in winter, whatever your activity, we recommend applying the 3-layer principle:
layer 1: technical undergarments allow moisture transfer to keep the skin dry.
layer 2: the second layer (fleece, sweater) provides warmth and moisture transfer.
layer 3: the jacket protects against external conditions: rain, snow, wind.
The whole garment must be breathable to evacuate moisture.
Windbreaker
The fabric is made waterproof and therefore windproof by applying a coating or membrane to its inner surface. In fact, a waterproof fabric has the technical characteristics to be certified windproof. It's very important to be protected from the wind, whether you're active or resting, because it cools the body enormously.
How can I preserve the technical qualities of my jacket?
A fabric's water repellency is its ability to let water slide off its surface without absorbing it. This means the fabric doesn't become waterlogged, and remains light, breathable and warm. Water repellency is achieved by a treatment applied to the outer face of the fabric. This treatment needs to be renewed over the life of the garment (we recommend every wash). Products (spray or liquid) are available for this purpose in our stores.
Will my jacket stand up to regular use over time?
To ensure the durability of our products, we carry out tests on selected components: resistance to rubbing and abrasion, colorfastness, resistance to repeated washing. All these tests have been carried out on the component of this jacket.
