TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Am I sure my jacket is warm enough for winter hiking?

We've developed your jacket for intense winter conditions: extreme cold, snow, blizzard. The insulation is made of thick wadding, a synthetic component that insulates thanks to the air it stores in its fibers (double layer on the body, single layer on the arms).
We've added a wide inner flap under the zipper to block the passage of cold air. Tightenings at the bottom of the jacket complete the device to guarantee a comfortable jacket down to -20°.

How does my jacket protect me from the elements?

Your jacket has been designed with a waterproof outer component that blocks the passage of water and wind. To stay warm in winter, you also need to protect your extremities (head, hands, feet). The blizzard-proof hood with removable synthetic fur, cuff sleeves and stand-up collar keep the cold out. High hand-warmer pockets with fleece lining are perfect for protecting your hands in a comfortable position.

WATERPROOF JACKET

The waterproofness of a jacket is not limited to that of its components: the technique used to assemble the various parts is also an assessment criterion.
Whether thermally bonded or sewn and then waterproofed, the overall waterproofness of your jacket is measured using a shower test developed by Decathlon, which simulates rainfall of different intensities.
So this waterproof jacket protects you from a downpour, i.e. 12 cm of rain in 2 hours.

WATERPROOF JACKET COMPONENTS

The impermeability of a fabric, ensured by a coating or membrane, is measured in Schmerber or mm H²0 (pressure exerted by a column of water). The higher the number, the more waterproof the fabric.
This jacket features a waterproof component (JIS 1092 standard) resistant to 15,000 mm H²0 (Schmerber) before washing.

A practical jacket with clever details

Clever, practical details: 2 hand-warmer pockets, 2 outside pockets with flaps, 1 secure inside pocket, 2 mesh inside pockets to keep everything close at hand.
The main fastening features a long zip and the press studs a thumb loop, so you can open or close your jacket while keeping your hands snugly wrapped up in your gloves. The 2 zips at the bottom of the jacket allow you to bend down or sit comfortably.

A comfortable, uniquely styled cold-weather jacket

We have designed this jacket with a comfortable volume so that it can be combined with a warm second layer such as a fleece or light down jacket.
Its long parka-style cut is ideal for protecting you from the cold and wind during your winter hikes in wide open spaces or in the mountains.

Will my jacket stand up to regular use over time?

To ensure the durability of our products, we carry out tests on selected components: resistance to rubbing and abrasion, colorfastness, resistance to repeated washing. All these tests are carried out on the component of your jacket.

How can I preserve the technical qualities of my jacket?

A fabric's water repellency is its ability to let water slide off its surface without absorbing it. This means the fabric doesn't become waterlogged, and remains light, breathable and warm. Water repellency is achieved by a treatment applied to the outer face of the fabric. This treatment needs to be renewed over the life of the garment (we recommend every wash). Products (spray or liquid) are available for this purpose in our stores.

How should I dress for snow hiking?

To dress properly in winter, whatever your activity, we recommend applying the 3-layer principle:
layer 1: technical undergarments allow moisture transfer to keep the skin dry.
layer 2: the second layer (fleece, sweater) provides warmth and moisture transfer.
layer 3: the jacket protects against external conditions: rain, snow, wind.
The whole garment must be breathable to evacuate moisture.
