What influences ballasting?

1/ Your physiology (weight) and body mass index (weight/height). 2/ The water: seawater offers more buoyancy (you weigh more) than freshwater. 3/ Your wetsuit: depending on the thickness of your neoprene, you'll float more or less. 4/ Tank weight (for scuba diving) and volume of air contained: the more air you consume, the lighter your tank and the more buoyancy tends to become positive (you float!).

Brakes / Weight fix / Lead locks

Lead locks (also known as brakes or weight locks) are used to link your leads together: this prevents them from moving when you're in the water.
