Directions for use
This microfilter lets you filter water directly from watering holes along the trail, ensuring instant hydration and filling your water bottle or water bag with drinking water. Easy to use with just one hand, it filters a liter of water in just one minute, so you can get back on the trail quickly. Weighing just 142 g (5 oz), it also lets you drink directly from the water source (without having to lie down in the mud).
Features
The product consists of a pre-filter (to remove larger particles in suspension), a 40 cm tube, a pump, a hollow-fiber filter and a pouring spout with cap.
If the filter becomes clogged, it can be replaced using the Trail Shot replacement kit.
Do not drop or freeze the product.
Maintenance tips
Clean the filter cartridge every 8 liters to prevent dirt build-up and extend filter life.
1/ Pump until the bulb is half-full.
2/Agitate the filter for 20 seconds.
3/ Disconnect the water inlet hose.
4/ Compress the bulb to release the water sale.
5/ Reconnect the hose.
If the pre-filter is clogged, shake it in the water to dislodge the debris.
First-time use
Rinse 3 times with clean water before using for the first time.
Materials and regulations
The Trail Shot microfilter uses hollow-fiber technology to eliminate bacteria and protozoa, as well as suspended particles. This filter does not remove viruses.
Complies with US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards for clean drinking water and NSF P231 protocol for bacterial (99.9999%), protozoan (99.9%) and particulate removal.
Important notes
Use the cleanest, clearest water possible.
If you filter silty, cloudy, muddy or glacier water, the filter will quickly become clogged.
To treat water that may contain suspended viruses, use an approved disinfectant or purifier.
