Why use extenders in triathlons?
To be a real triathlete, of course! That could have been the answer for this iconic product, but we suggest a different approach.
On rolling courses, we advise you to opt for the extenders solution, so that you can vary your position and gain in efficiency once you've found your right adjusters and can hold the position for a long time.
How do I find the right position for my extension cables?
Your position should be as natural as possible, even if you need to get used to it by looking for relaxation (shoulders, neck)
We advise you to find a setting that will allow you to rest your elbows on the armrests with a 90° angle between the arm and the forearm. Your hand should fall naturally on the end of the bars for a natural grip. You will certainly need to move your saddle forward on its carriage and perhaps shorten your stem.
Are extension cords allowed in triathlons?
Extenders are permitted in triathlons where drafting (riding under the cover of another triathlete) is prohibited.
We advise you to read the rules of each race, which generally specify this point.
Extenders are generally prohibited in short-distance triathlons (XS, S) and permitted in medium- and long-distance triathlons (from Olympic distance upwards).
What level of proficiency do I need to use extension cords?
No particular level required, on the contrary!
We recommend that you find a setting that allows you to use your extenders over time without fear of pain.
You'll then be able to increase your speed or reduce your fatigue to tackle the running part in the best possible conditions.
