Safety tips
We recommend the full set: helmet, elbow pads, knee pads and wrist guards. Because when it comes down to it, which part of your body you fall on... it's all a bit random.
A little technique: wheels and bearings...
While more experienced riders use ABEC 1 to 7 bearings, here the bearings are adapted for use by children just starting out, to ensure progressive gliding and safety. In concrete terms, you could say that the skates roll more slowly. As for the wheels, their size is 63 mm.
How to adjust the size of children's rollerballs?
See the little tab on the front of the bootie? Simply snap it onto the desired number. 1 for the smallest size, 2 for the intermediate size and 3 for the largest. The space at the front of the foot is then freed up and you gain 2 sizes. Clever, isn't it?
Optional stability kit (ref 8282768)
The stability kit can be fitted to all sizes of PLAY3 and PLAY5 rollerblades. This stability kit allows you to start with a tricycle configuration: a good way to increase stability during your child's first outings, and to quickly build up confidence. The kit is pre-installed on PLAY3 rollerblades size 26/28.
Play3 roller skates, 8 years of history with apprentice skaters :)
We're proud to be 8 years old! And thanks to your opinions, we're constantly improving these skates. For example, you gave us the idea of a stability kit: a small screw on which you align 2 wheels, like a tricycle, on the back of the skate. It's very simple, and makes the first steps much easier. More recently, we've improved the clamping clips. In a word: thank you!
Rubber brakes and wheels... or plastic?
Unlike plastic, which shrivels but doesn't brake, the rubber on 63mm wheels has good grip, enabling your child to skate without slipping when pushing, and to brake effectively. What's more, rubber wears less quickly than plastic. Our Oxelo teams are committed to safety - whatever your child's technical level. We have therefore chosen to equip all our children's rollerblades with rubber wheels and brakes, rather than PVC.
Would you like to repair or maintain your rollers?
You'll find wheels of various sizes (even luminous ones), brakes and compatible screws on our website and in your workshop Decathlon. All very easy to fit. Take a look at our tips and tutorials on our YouTube page Oxelo : https://www.youtube.com/user/oxelo/videos
How to extend wheel life
Depending on where they are placed on the skate, some wheels will wear more quickly than others. Don't hesitate to change their positions regularly.
It's really time to change them when the wear reaches the first of the 7 circles visible on the inside of the wheel.
How do we test our rollers?
All our rollers are laboratory-tested. These tests validate both European standards and wear tests. They are supplemented by field tests, some measured, others based on testers' perceptions. The result: a product that's been tested, proven... and approved. Including by the riders of our partner roller-skate clubs!
