Co-developed with Yannick Bestaven (winner of the 2020 Vendée Globe) to withstand a demanding round-the-world race
The Tribord Offshore PRO range has been developed and tested with Yannick Bestaven and other partner skippers. It meets their requirements during all their races, transatlantic, offshore, single-handed and crewed, and on different boats: Yannick BESTAVEN (IMOCA), Quentin VLAMYNCK (Ocean 50), Achille NEBOUT, les VOILEUSES AU LARGES, Keni PIPEROL (Class 40), Romain LE GALL (Figaro 3), Sasha LANIECE and Léo BOTHOREL (Mini 6.50).
The uniqueness of the Offshore PRO SERIES dungarees
Compared with our 900 dungarees, the PRO dungarees:
- are more robust
- have specific knee reinforcements
- have a watertight zip
- have a wider, adjustable lower leg
Details below.
The dungarees have been designed as a panoply with the Offshore PRO jacket.
How waterproof is the fabric?
The fabric is constructed with a 3-layer membrane, resistant to a water pressure of 30,000 mm Schmerbers (JIS standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric.
The product has been tested under a storm rain simulator, reproducing a rainfall of 450 L/M²/h for 24 hours and on numerous races with our partner skippers.
Dungarees sealing
The seams are 100% waterproof.
The double zip is waterproof when closed (YKK aquaSeal®).
The wide Velcro fastening at the bottom of the leg ensures a snug fit on the boot.
What is water repellency and how do I maintain it?
Fabrics and fasteners are water-repellent.
Water repellency is the ability of a fabric to let water slide off its surface without absorbing it.
This means your overalls won't become waterlogged, and remain light and breathable. Water repellency is achieved by a treatment (DWR) applied to the outer face of the fabric, but these properties can be altered with use.
Water repellency can be reactivated by tumbling the dungarees for 10 minutes at low temperature.
Comfort and strength in the knees and buttocks for lasting waterproofness
A 6mm thick foam layer provides extra comfort on the knees and buttocks when sailing.
A hard-wearing component covers the foam, guaranteeing greater resistance to abrasion on these support areas.
By layering the overalls and jacket, you can also limit the freezing effect (the sensation of wetness generated by water through the garment), as the protections keep the skin away from the water.
Breathability
To determine whether a fabric is breathable, we measure its evaporative resistance, known as RET. This is the fabric's capacity to let the water vapour produced by the body during exercise escape to the outside.
The lower the resistance, the more water vapour the fabric lets escape, and therefore the more breathable it is.
The RET of this product is 25.
Stretch fabric on top of overalls
The top component of the overalls is stretchable to support your every move.
This part is water-repellent but not waterproof.
Adjust the overalls to your body shape
The dungarees can be adjusted in 2 places to best suit your body shape and equipment:
- Velcro-adjustable shoulder straps at the top of the shoulders, to suit your bust height
- Velcro-adjustable hip straps
- Velcro-adjustable lower legs, to fit over your boots.
Abrasion resistance
The overalls feature reinforcements on the knees and buttocks for optimum abrasion resistance.
Pockets
The dungarees have 1 cargo-type storm pocket on the right thigh, equipped with a drainage system to allow water to drain away.
There's also a loop for attaching your knife sheath to the left thigh.
How to choose the right size of overalls?
The product is loose-fitting. Designed to be worn with thermal underwear and fleece underneath.
For men, choose your usual size.
For women, we recommend a size smaller than your usual size.
How to care for your overalls
After use, rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove salt. Machine wash about once a year to prevent the scratches from damaging the fabric during washing.
Dry in a well-ventilated area. Caution: never dry your overalls directly on a radiator.
If the water repellency is less effective, you can occasionally tumble dry them at low temperature for 10 minutes to reactivate the water repellency.
How to reactivate water repellency?
Drying is essential to reactivate the water-repellent treatment.
We recommend that you leave your overalls to dry completely in the open air, flat on a drying rack. Never dry your overalls directly on a radiator or in direct sunlight.
Then tumble-dry on the synthetic program for a short time, i.e. 10 to 15 minutes. Be careful not to over-dry the garment.
How do you dry or hang your overalls?
A strap loop lets you hang your overalls on a hook or coat rack for drying.
