TECHNICAL INFORMATION

1 - Classic 550 cross-country skis, the best compromise for progress!

If you're a regular cross-country skier with a good technical base.
And for you, cross-country skiing is not just a way to get away from it all, but also and above all an opportunity to get out and about in nature.

Then the 550 ski is ideal for you, the confirmed skier, the best compromise for progress.
A balance between glide, lightness, rigidity, grip and freedom with the tool-free adjustable binding!

2 - An adapted camber, for a personalized ski!

Cross-country skis have a camber whose function is to restore the force applied by the skier and to resist crushing under his weight.
In classic skiing, to grip, you need to be able to crush the ski so that the retaining zone is in contact with the snow.
On the other hand, to glide, the retaining zone must no longer be in contact with the snow.
It's important to choose the right ski camber for your weight and ability to achieve the right grip/glide ratio.

3 - Choosing the right SIZE

The size of a cross-country ski depends on your level of practice and your weight

CAMBRE SOFT
- 50 to 60 Kg = 188 cm

CAMBRE MEDIUM
- 60 to 70 Kg = 188 cm
- 65 to 75 Kg = 195 cm
- 75 to 90 Kg = 202 cm

CAMBRE HARD
- 90 to 110 Kg = 202 cm
- 100 to 130 Kg = 207 cm

If you're between 2 sizes :
- For greater comfort = choose the smaller size, the ski will be easier to handle.
- For a more sporty style = choose the larger size.

4 - The key to PEAUX, simplicity!

The grip on a cross-country ski corresponds to the area in the center of the sole (underside of the ski).
It provides "grip" to prevent slipping on ascents, while guaranteeing smooth gliding on the flat or downhill.
There are 3 systems: flakes, retaining wax or skins.

The 550 ski is equipped with a 100% mohair skin grip
Skins provide the same grip quality as flake soles, but have the advantage of not making noise and do not require waxing.

Changing skins

Your skins are worn, change them...
We advise you to contact our workshop to order and change

Ski size 181 / 188 CM => code reference pair of skins = 4229194
Ski size 195/ 202 / 207 CM => code reference pair of skins = 4229195

5 - XCELERATOR bindings, the technology that gives you more speed!

All our skis are sold with bindings from Norwegian brand Rottefella compatible with NNN, prolink and Turnamic standards.
Our 550 skins skis are equipped with the Rottefella XCELERATOR PRO binding, which provides an ideal position between the ski and the boot to optimize thrust.
The binding can be easily moved without tools to adapt it to your needs: slide the binding forward to promote grip, and backward to optimize glide.

6 - A sintered sole for superior glide

The base is the part of the ski in contact with the snow, and is made of polyethylene (PEhd). The manufacturing process can be extruded or sintered.

The base of the 550 ski is made of sintered PEhd, using high molecular weight plastic powder, heated, compressed and cut into plates.
This process gives the base a higher density and therefore better glide and resistance.

7 - Waxing, the secret of durability

When you buy your skis, we recommend that you prepare the base of your skis properly to achieve their optimum glide level. We recommend several consecutive waxings to "feed" the base.

To maintain the performance of your skis, don't forget to wax them regularly!

To wax your skis, discover our tutorials on our You Tube channel Inovik or make an appointment in your workshop Decathlon.

LEXICLE = Building a ski

Our skis are designed using a "sandwich" process: superimposing different materials at the heart of the ski and across its entire width.
The final product is assembled with a press.

CORNER = core of the ski: wood (solid or with channels) or composite (honeycomb or Nomex®)
BOTTOM = part in contact with the snow, made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), sintered or extruded.
ACCROCHE = retaining zone located under the ski
EDGE LINES = width of a ski in tip, runner and heel.

A word from the design team

Guillaume - ski engineer inovik

My mission was to develop a technical, accessible ski with excellent value for money, without compromising on quality ! It took us 2 years of development to come up with the first prototype of the 550 ski. This ski was then tested several times in the laboratory and in practice to ensure that it met our requirements before it went to market.
