TECHNICAL INFORMATION

What does a ski's sidecut correspond to?

The dimension line corresponds to the width of the tip (front of the ski), the runner (middle of the ski) and the tail (back of the ski).
The wider the tip, the easier the ski enters the turn. The narrower the runner, the grippier the ski on hard snow.

Profile: Rocker/Camber/Rocker , Directional Shape.
In 162cm: 129/89/113mm, radius: 16m
In 170cm: 127/88/111mm, radius: 17m
In 178cm: 124/88/109mm, radius: 18m

Description

Its 90 mm width underfoot provides good stability and comfort in changing snow conditions. Its shape with a small camber underfoot and its front and rear rockers allow you to pivot easily for greater maneuverability in all snow conditions. An ideal ski for your first powder outings in 15 to 20 centimeters of fresh snow.

Which skier are you?

If you're an expert on the slopes but dream of powder, the Rookie is the ski that will let you take the plunge! Designed for beginner freeriders looking for a ski that's comfortable on piste and easy off-piste. Safe, maneuverable and forgiving, it will accompany you as you discover off-piste skiing, first on the edge of the slopes with markers in sight, then gradually a little further afield.

Selection assistance

If you want to get started in freeride skiing, the Rookie is the ski for you.
If you already do a lot of off-piste skiing, you'll want to choose between a Patrol and a Slash.
The Patrol is for those who like their skis serious, grippy and versatile.
The Slash is more for those who prefer super-playful skis.
For powder hunters, a Pow Chaser is the ski for them.

What is a camber?

When a ski is placed on the ground, the contact points of the ski on the snow are located near the tip and tail, while the center of the ski (under the bindings) rises slightly (this is the camber). The longer and higher the camber, the more grippy and responsive the ski. The lower the camber, the more forgiving and maneuverable the ski.

What is a rocker?

On a rocker ski, the tip and sometimes the tail lift off the ground much earlier than on a cambered ski. This shifts the contact points towards the center of the ski. This shortens the surface area of the ski in contact with the snow, giving you more maneuverability and lift in soft snow. The angle of the rocker gives you more edge length for greater grip on hard snow. The longer the rocker, the more maneuverable your ski.

Preparation

Skis waxed and sharpened, ready to use. Edges sharpened to 89°.

All Wedze products are imagined, designed and conceived in the Mont-Blanc valley. They are then tested under conditions identical to those you will find yourself in use (in the snow, in the cold, in the powder...). The design teams ensure that the program for which the product was conceived and developed corresponds perfectly to its use in the field.

DESIGN STORY

freeride skiing

Once upon a time...

"We've tried to give each ski name a strong meaning because we know that people come to Decathlon looking for a particular use. They're not looking for a strong brand image.
The ski name is more powerful for us. We decided to add more fun and personality to our skis with the little handmade illustration."

Inspiration...

"What makes freeride skis unique and different is probably that they have the meather lift and are wider underfoot. We decided to to get closer to the nautical aesthetics, particularly of surf... "
