1 - The BC500, the compromise between skiing and snowshoeing!
The BC500 is a short, wide ski with good maneuverability and flotation on snow, making it easy to get around in powder snow.
Thanks to its mohair skins and permanent free heel, the BC500 ski lets you walk, climb and glide with the same equipment and without changing position.
It combines the maneuverability of a snowshoe for easy movement on powder snow with the gliding pleasure of a ski for descending gentle slopes of less than 15%.
2 - Where can you enjoy BC500 snowshoeing?
BC500 ski touring allows you to explore the Nordic regions in a different way, notably off the cross-country ski trails. Be careful, however, not to venture out just anywhere.
Snowshoeing is best practised on plateaus or in forests, in snow-covered valleys with slopes of less than 15%.
The snow must be fresh and not transformed (hard or frozen).
It is not adapted to the relief of alpine or cross-country ski trails, as the slopes are too steep.
3 - What boots should I use with this snowshoe?
Thanks to its universal bindings (adjustable from 36 to 46) with two tightening buckles, the BC500 can be used with waterproof boots with soft soles, such as hiking boots or snow boots.
Mountaineering boots with stiff soles are not suitable for this purpose.
Back country ROTTEFELA bindings can be fitted, with additional inserts.
SAFETY RULES :
1 - Do not practice on slopes of more than 15%
2 - Do not use on transformed snow (hard or frozen)
3 - Do not use with shoes whose sole is too rigid
4 - Do not venture anywhere
5 - Choose equipment adapted to the practice (pants, jacket, waterproof shoes...)
PREPARATION :
Before using the skis, apply pressure to the sealskins to ensure that they are firmly attached.
The skins are fixed (keep them on when going downhill) but as the glue used (PSA: pressure sensitive adhesion) is identical to that used for ski touring, the skins could come unstuck...
With this precaution, you will ensure that the skins stick well
ATTENTION: the ski edges are sharp.
MAINTENANCE:
If delamination occurs too frequently or after wintering, follow the recommendations based on reactivating the glue + pressure
