Did you know?
Lack of bedding maintenance, mud and wet conditions, and poor foot maintenance are the main causes of fork rot. Once rotten, the fork loses its flexibility and firmness, which initially enabled the foot to absorb and support the horse's weight.
When rotten, the fork takes on a spongy appearance, becoming dark, discolored and foul-smelling.
