Diameter and probe tip
The diameter of the cone-shaped tip is larger than that of the probe, making a larger hole. This makes it easier for the probe to penetrate the snow accumulated by the avalanche
The probe is made up of 6 strands and has been designed with a diameter of 12.5mm to guarantee greater resistance when probing in hard snow.
Quick unfolding
In a single movement, the probe unfolds and the strands quickly interlock. The cable and automatic locking system simplify the unfolding action, thanks to the shaft with shoulders located inside the last strand.
4 possible levels of tension: the tighter the cable, the stiffer the probe.
Grip
A long foam handle is glued to the last strand of the probe, to make it easier to grip when wearing gloves.
A synthetic handle is sewn onto the cable, for rapid deployment of the probe.
Did you know?
It is advisable to keep your gloves on when probing, to avoid contaminating the area with odors other than those of the victims.
Marking
For effective probing, and to know the depth of the victim, the strands are marked every 5cm, with more visible markings every 50cm.
The safety pack
The mountains are a wonderful adventure playground, but they need to be explored with great care:
The minimum safety pack to accompany you on your mountain outings is an avalanche transceiver + probe + shovel, but having all 3 products should not give you a feeling of absolute protection.
