At the foot of Mont Blanc, our team of hikers designed these lightweight overtrousers that can be slipped on without taking off your shoes, to cope with bad weather in the mountains.

These overtrousers are the perfect complement to your waterproof outfit and take up a minimum of space, thanks to their compact storage pocket. In our photos, Agnès is 175 cm tall and wears a size 38.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

CUT

The cut of these overtrousers has been designed to be sufficiently wide for easy on and off. At the same time, our patternmaker Vanessa has taken great care to ensure that the cut remains feminine.

OVERTROUSER CONSTRUCTION / 3 LAYERS

This overtrouser is built with 3 layers, the best protection available on the market: the membrane is bonded between the inner and outer layers of the component (hence the name 3-layer component).
The membrane is a kind of very thin polyurethane film, which makes the component waterproof, yet breathable.
It is protected by a knitted fabric, and has the advantage of being softer, lighter, and often more breathable than a coating.

WATERPROOFING TEST

Impermeability is measured by a fabric's resistance to water pressure expressed in mm water column (JIS 1092 standard)
The higher the pressure, the more impermeable the fabric.
The component in this product has an impermeability of 15,000 mm and therefore resists the pressure exerted by 15,000 mm water column.
This is also equivalent to 15,000 Schmerbers.

BREATHABILITY TEST

The breathability of a component is measured by its "Thermal Evaporative Resistance" (RET).
This is its ability to let water vapor produced by the body during exertion escape to the outside, thus preventing the accumulation of water on the skin.
The lower the RET value, the more breathable the fabric.

RET ≤ 6: very breathable fabric
RET ≤ 12: breathable fabric
RET ≤ 20: not very breathable fabric

Our product has a RET of 8.

PRODUCT DESIGN: OUR EXPERTISE

Our worldwide design center Quechua is based in Passy, at the foot of Mont-Blanc in Haute Savoie.
This location makes it a real meeting place for our teams (designers, product managers, engineers...) and outdoor sports enthusiasts.
A great asset for designing your mountain hiking products, and for providing you with all our expertise.

HOW DO I REACTIVATE THE WATER REPELLENCY OF MY OVERTROUSERS?

A fabric's water repellency is its ability to let water slide off its surface, without absorbing it. As a result, your overtrousers won't become waterlogged, remaining light and breathable. Water repellency is obtained by a treatment applied to the outer face of the fabric, but these properties can be altered with use.

All the steps to reactivate water repellency are described below:

TESTS

Our laboratory Decathlon Sportslab, based in Lille, also contributes to the innovation and development of our products Quechua. It groups together 4 themes, each with its own space and technological tools:
Morphology (thanks in particular to 3D analysis)
Movement sciences
Thermal comfort (with its four climatic chambers)
Behavioral and sensory sciences
+ we come to tell the specificity of the test linked to the product (e.g. shower, blower...)

Approved by

To meet your requirements, Quechua products are tested in the mountains, in the conditions you may encounter on your hikes.
Our teams, as well as a panel of testers (partners, ambassadors and customers) test our products from development to marketing.
