Find out more about the set design
The top is made of Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF). This design choice results in a billiard table that is light, flat, smooth and resistant. To further strengthen the top and make it less sensitive to variations in temperature and humidity, as well as to successive bumps when playing, we took our inspiration from aeronautics (see Singularity of your billiard table) by adding stringers under the top.
What makes your billiards table unique? Stringers
In the design of airplane wings, stringers are used in conjunction with the ribs and fuselage frame to stiffen the structure and withstand pressure and deformation. Based on the same principle, we added metal stringers and spars to the underside of the platform. This reinforced frame design avoids the sagging effects that can be observed on billiard tables without a good frame, including those with slate.
The advantages of your table
Your billiard table has markings (called flies) on the frame for greater precision. Its net pockets are silent. Its carpet is resistant. Adjustable metal legs. The stainless steel corners are reinforced and rounded for added safety. Finally, your billiard table is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified.
How much space do you need to play comfortably?
To play billiards, you need to feel at ease, and this depends (among other things) on your playing space. To define it properly, you ideally need the size of a billiard cue (the average length being 1.45 m) on each side of your table. And you need to allow an extra 5 cm for your filing (the swing of the cue before impact).
To sum up? You need a space of 21.5 m2 for this BT 700 billiard table (i.e. 514 x 418 cm).
Balls or marbles? Holes or pockets? We explain billiards vocabulary
If you've often heard billiards referred to as "balls" or "holes", those aren't the exact terms used for the sport!
That's right! If you want to play billiards, you're going to have to put balls (not cue balls) into pockets (not holes).
And how? By shooting the cue ball with a cue stick. Here we're talking about a cue rather than a stick."
Are you new to billiards? Our team offers advice on how to get started
Contrary to popular belief, billiards is a sport! And a precision sport at that.
To feel comfortable and succeed in repeating a precise gesture, take the time to find a position where you're stable.
Finally, rather than relying on luck or chance, rely on strategy, precision and success.
In short? Visualize your shots and be daring, rather than shooting into the pile to see what happens :)
How to maintain your billiard cloth?
Your billiard cloth is unlikely to develop holes. Maintenance improves the quality of play and longevity of your table. Here's our advice:
- Avoid exposure to sunlight, cover between games.
- Keep food, drink and cigarettes away from the mat.
- Avoid chalk stains, rub at a distance.
- Use a vacuum cleaner with a flat brush to remove dust.
- Clean with a piece of mat soaked in hot water to remove marks and improve glide.
