TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Co-developed with Yannick Bestaven (winner of the 2020 Vendée Globe) to withstand a demanding round-the-world race

The Tribord Offshore Pro range has been developed and tested with Yannick Bestaven and our partner professional skippers. It meets their requirements during all their races, inshore and offshore, transatlantic, single-handed and crewed, and on different boats: Yannick BESTAVEN (IMOCA), Quentin VLAMYNCK (Ocean 50 and Figaro 3), Achille NEBOUT (Class 40), Keni PIPEROL (Class 40), Romain LE GALL (Figaro 3), Sasha LANIECE and Léo BOTHOREL (Mini 6.50).

How waterproof is the fabric?

The fabric, developed by our DECATHLON laboratory, is constructed with a 3-layer membrane, resistant to a water pressure of 20,000 mm Schmerbers (JIS standard).
The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric.
The product has been tested under a storm rain simulator, reproducing a rainfall of 450 L/M²/h for 4 hours and on numerous races with our partner pro skippers.

Lightness and freedom of movement

We've chosen a lightweight, breathable and stretchable component to accompany sportier sailing in warmer weather.
The lightweight jacket has also been tested and approved for light sailing and kayaking, and weighs 572 grams in size L.

Waterproofing the jacket / spray top

In addition to the fabric, the product has been designed to be watertight against heavy water splashes:
- No zippers to ensure watertightness in all circumstances.
- Stretchy, highly comfortable neoprene sleeves.
- Stretchy, highly comfortable neoprene collars.
- Adjustable neoprene waistband.
- Seams are 100% taped.

Neoprene collar and sleeves

Several collars (thickness, type of neoprene, shape, height) were tested in the Tribord Sailing Lab rain room to choose the best performing component and shape.

Why neoprene and not latex?
The numerous tests carried out showed that neoprene performed just as well as latex.

How to choose your jacket / spray top size?

This product runs large. It is designed to be worn with thermal underwear and a mid-layer.
For men, choose your usual size.
For women, choose a size smaller than your usual size.

How to care for your jacket

After use, rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove salt. Machine-wash about once a year to prevent the scratches from damaging the fabric during washing.
Dry in a well-ventilated area. Caution: never dry your jacket directly on a radiator.
If the water repellency is less effective, you can occasionally tumble dry it at low temperature for 10 minutes to reactivate the water repellency.

Fabric strength

The fabric is stretchy and lightweight for a waterproof jacket. Its lightness makes it more susceptible to rubbing and snags. We encourage you to take care of it and avoid excessive rubbing or contact with abrasive materials that could damage the fabric.
