TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Product co-developed with Yannick Bestaven (winner of the 2020 Vendée Globe) to withstand a demanding round-the-world race

The Tribord Offshore Pro range has been developed and tested with Yannick Bestaven and our partner professional skippers. It meets their requirements during all their races, transatlantic, offshore, single-handed and crewed, and on different boats: Yannick BESTAVEN (IMOCA), Quentin VLAMYNCK (Ocean 50 and Figaro 3), Achille NEBOUT, les VOILEUSES AU LARGES, Keni PIPEROL (Class 40), Romain LE GALL (Figaro 3) and Léo BOTHOREL (Mini 6.50).

Waterproofing the jacket

The jacket has been designed to stay dry in all circumstances, thanks to:
- Soft, waterproof neoprene sleeves that are gentle on the skin
- A soft, waterproof neoprene collar that is comfortable against the skin, lined with a textile collar to protect the mouth and nose, which can be clipped to the side.
- Collar to protect the nape of the neck
- Adjustable neoprene belt under the jacket
- All seams are taped.

How waterproof is the fabric?

The fabric, developed by our DECATHLON laboratory, is constructed with a 3-layer membrane, resistant to a water pressure of 30,000 Schmerbers (JIS standard) and highly water-repellent.
It makes the product waterproof, breathable and lightweight.
The product has been tested under a storm rain simulator, reproducing a rainfall of 450 L/M²/h for 24 hours (3x8 hours) and on numerous races with our partner pro skippers.

Collar and double sleeves

- Neoprene sleeves and collar (glide skin side) to keep water out. Chosen for their flexibility, extensibility and comfort.
- The textile sleeve goes over the neoprene sleeve and stops the pressure of water coming in through the waves.
Adjustable with Velcro, the textile sleeves are made of a soft fabric for greater freedom of movement.
An adjustable textile collar covers the neoprene collar to stop the pressure of water and prevent infiltration.

Why neoprene sleeves and not latex?

The neoprene used is just as waterproof as latex. It has the advantage of being comfortable, more flexible and more UV-resistant.

Face, nose and neck protection

The collar provides full protection for the nape of the neck, without obstructing the front of the face.
The collar provides full vision protection, and the ears are also kept clear to keep the senses alert.
The fixed collar also provides storage space for the hood, and is lined with fleece. It is lined with fleece.
The nose guard: in cold or wet weather, it protects the majority of the face, while still allowing good visibility. It is attached to the back of the hood and can be met removed with a single hand.

Hood

Designed to provide the widest possible field of vision and optimum protection against rain and wind
Inspired by a cap shape and featuring a rigid visor, it remains well positioned and won't get in the way when manoeuvring
Adjustments at the back of the head
It therefore follows your head's movements, guaranteeing your vision whether you're looking to the side or the top of the mast.
In storm configuration (face + nose + hood), only the eyes protrude.

Belly pocket

The jacket has 1 large ventral pocket:
It is communicating, non-waterproof, with a fleece lining for hands to slip into during vigils.
The pocket is equipped with a drainage system to let water run off.

Abrasion resistance

A major challenge for this jacket: to withstand the abrasion of an IMOCA deck.
A DECATHLON-unique, specially resistant component is present on the buttocks and back of the thighs.

How to choose your jacket size?

The product has a loose fit. Designed to be worn with thermal underwear and fleece underneath.
For men, choose your usual size.
For women, choose a size smaller than your usual size.

How do I wash my jacket?

After use, rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove salt. Machine-wash about once a year to prevent the scratches from damaging the fabric during washing.
Dry in a well-ventilated area. Caution: never dry your jacket directly on a radiator.
If the water repellency is less effective, you can occasionally tumble dry it at low temperature for 10 minutes to reactivate the water repellency.
