Speed information and recommendations
Electric assistance helps you pedal to your destination without breaking a sweat, while maintaining a pleasant pedaling rhythm along the way.
The motor stops assisting you as soon as you stop pedaling and when you brake.
ATTENTION: We've fitted a powerful, torquey motor to accompany you when you're loaded. This motor generates energy above 45 km/h, which can damage your electrical system. Do not exceed this speed.
What are the motor specifications of the VELOCARGO LONGTAIL R500E?
Rear-wheel motor, 48 volts, 250 watts nominal. Develops a maximum motor torque of 58Nm. It enables you to carry a load of up to 170 kg with ease.
Torque and motor power are used to assess the ease with which the bike will get through certain difficulties (a climb, for example).
The motor is coupled to a torque sensor which provides electric assistance based on the force exerted on the pedals. This guarantees natural pedaling.

Range: 90 km maximum in Eco mode (1), 70 km maximum in Normal mode (2), 50 km maximum in Power mode (3) for a person weighing 80 kg on a relatively flat, unloaded route.
NB: Range may vary according to weight carried (your body weight + the weight of items carried), gradients (uphill) and weather conditions.
Control screen and trigger
An LCD control screen is located right next to your left handlebar. Don't let go of your handlebars and choose between the 3 available assistance modes: Eco, Normal and Power.
Remaining range is displayed via the "Trip to go" information, distance covered is displayed via the "Trip" information and total distance is displayed via the "Odo" information.
A trigger provides starting assistance up to 6km/h (very practical when loaded).
You can also switch on the headlights.
Assistance modes
Mode 0 - Off (battery not in use).
Mode 1 - Eco => assistance up to 90% in addition to pedal effort.
Mode 2 - Normal => assistance up to 180% in addition to pedal effort.
Mode 3 - Power => assistance up to 300% in addition to pedal effort.
"Walk" mode => With the trigger, it helps you push the bike when you walk alongside it (assistance up to 6 km/h) or helps you start.

Tire care and inflation tips
1) Monthly check of correct tire pressure (between 3.5 and 5 bar). If tire pressure is too low, the bike's performance, range and stability will be significantly reduced.
2) Occasional maintenance of the drivetrain (especially the chain, which should be cleaned and lubricated).
3) In the event of long-term storage (> 1 month), without using the bike, we strongly advise you to use the battery's "extended standby" mode to avoid any malfunctions.
Cleaning / Repair
To carry out any work on your electrically-assisted bicycle yourself (cleaning, electrical or mechanical maintenance), you must remove your battery and switch off your electrically-assisted bicycle.
Luggage rack
The carrier can support a weight of 80 kg.
The carrier is compatible with 100% of Decathlon universal accessories (baby carrier, basket, luggage). Its dimensions are l: 15.5 cm * L: 60 cm.

Cycling by the sea
As the marine environment (air, sea spray) is extremely corrosive to mechanical and metal parts, we strongly recommend regular lubrication of the bike's entire drivetrain, and the occasional wiping with a damp cloth of any salt deposits that may have settled on position elements (handlebars, seatpost, etc.).

Battery lock
Key locking (2 keys are supplied with the bike).
The battery is therefore removable for easy recharging (at the office, for example).
Wheel lock
A wheel lock is positioned on the front wheel, allowing you to block its rotation.
2 keys are supplied with the bike.
It is compatible with a plug-in chain Decathlon part no. 8767728.
Delivery information
You have 2 options:
- In-store delivery: your bike will be 100% assembled when you come to pick it up. Please note! The bike measures 2m20. You'll either have to leave by bike, or provide your own means of transport.
- Home delivery: your bike will be 90% assembled. Paper and video instructions and a tool kit will be delivered with it, so that you can assemble the rest (footrest, front basket, handlebars, pedals, child restraint bar).

Rear support bar
The bike is equipped with a support bar at the rear. It can be used to transport children or goods. It can also be used to slide a European-standard 60 cm*40 cm*40 cm crate.
The side bars have 2 adjustment positions.
