How does a VAE work?
A VAE (Vélo à Assistance Electrique - electrically-assisted bicycle) helps you pedal, reducing fatigue and perspiration. However, it is essential to pedal for the motor to accompany you!
The motor will accompany you at a maximum speed of 25km/h and will stop as soon as you stop pedaling.
If you do not wish to benefit from the assistance, it can be switched off at any time to pedal as you would on a conventional bicycle.
Your VAE has also been tested to ride in the rain.
What size bike should I choose?
2 sizes available, 2 frame shapes, high or low.
Size S/M: from 1m55 to 1m75
Size L/XL: from 1m75 to 1m95
If you are between two sizes, the larger size will offer a more comfortable position.
Bike weight
(incl. pedals and battery):
From 25.4kg in size M.
Maximum operating weight
This electrically-assisted bicycle (EAB) has been validated to EN 15194 for a maximum weight of 125 kg (user weight + transported load).
How do I recharge a VAE?
The removable battery, secured with a key, can be recharged from a mains socket either on the bike or by removing it from the bike. A charger is supplied with the bike.
The battery takes 5 hours to fully charge.
Maintenance/storage
A Lithium-Ion battery should be charged regularly, without waiting until it is completely discharged.
A battery not used for a long time should be stored in "deep standby" mode (press the battery power button for at least 10sec). 80% charged. Otherwise, a charge every 3 months maximum is recommended.
The battery must be stored in a dry, temperate place (25°C) for optimum operation and use.
Battery transport/recycling
Lithium-ion batteries are subject to special transport regulations (boat, airplane).
A document called MSDS, specific to your battery, is available on request from our cycle teams. Regulations, procedures and recycling organizations are specific to each country.
In France, end-of-life batteries can be dropped off at your store's workshop to be recycled by an approved organization as part of our eco-responsible policy.
Parts availability
10-year availability of electrical parts (motor, battery, electrical components or equivalent).
Maintenance tips
1) Before carrying out any work on your VAE (electrical or mechanical maintenance), you must switch off your VAE and remove the battery.
2) Occasional maintenance of the transmission (chain must be cleaned and lubricated)
3) Do not use a high-pressure cleaner.
Storage tips
It is advisable to store the bike in a place protected from the elements or covered with a tarpaulin.
It is also advisable to remove the battery from the bike and store it in a cool place when not in use.
Restrictions on use
As the marine or damp environment (air, sea spray) is extremely corrosive to mechanical and metal parts, we strongly recommend regular lubrication of the entire bike drivetrain.
We also recommend that you occasionally wipe the position elements (handlebars, seatpost, etc.) with a damp cloth to remove any salt deposits or traces of moisture.
