TECHNICAL INFORMATION

What does e-actv 500 mean?

The acronym ACTV stands for "ACTIVE". We've designed this bike for anyone who wants to adopt a more active lifestyle and reconnect with nature. The "e" stands for electrically assisted.

Yamaha PW-C2 engine specifications

Motor reference: Yamaha PW-C2.

Max power: 250W
Maximum power (at thermal balance) is limited by the electric bike standard. All bikes have the same maximum power.

Max. torque: 55 Nm
Torque is the best way to compare electric bike motors. Motor torque corresponds to the force that the motor is capable of exerting on the crankset.

Stops electric assistance above 25 km/h in accordance with European regulations.

A mid-mounted motor for improved maneuverability

The central motor provides better weight distribution on the bike than a wheel motor. The motor and battery are positioned low and between the two wheels. Result: the bike is easy to handle, just as maneuverable as a traditional mountain bike.

A central motor for dynamic & progressive assistance

On a central motor, the power of the assistance is directly adjusted according to your effort:
- As the gradient of the path intensifies, the motor detects that you are pressing harder on the pedals and instantly assists you more.
- As you slow down, the motor detects that you are releasing your pedaling and instantly reduces the assistance.

Result: assistance that's easy to get to grips with.

Torque sensor assistance management.

A mid-mounted engine for improved hill climbing and greater autonomy

Like you, the central motor benefits from the bicycle's transmission gearing.

Assistance is therefore more effective on hills than with a wheel motor of equivalent power.

The central motor's energy efficiency is also better than that of a wheel motor. Bicycle autonomy is therefore greater than with a wheel motor combined with an equivalent battery.

4 levels of assistance to manage your effort

5 assistance levels:

Mode 0: Assistance Off
Mode 1 (eco): Amplifies your power by +70%: if you pedal 100W, the motor adds 70W.
Mode 2 (tour): Amplifies your power by +150%: if you pedal 100W, the motor adds 150W.
Mode 3 (sport): Amplifies your power by +220%: if you pedal 100W, the motor adds 220W.
Mode 4 (boost): Amplifies your power by +280%: if you pedal 100W, the motor adds 280W.

Walk mode: Helps you walk forward alongside the bike.

Autonomy: important information

The bike's display shows an estimated remaining range in kilometers. This information underestimates the bike's range. The bike displays a maximum range of 97km in 100% eco mode, instead of the 150km range estimated in our tests.

The bike's actual range is not affected by this problem. Only the estimated range displayed is underestimated.

We are working with Yamaha to correct this problem and propose a software update for the bike.

Up to 150 km range with your electric trekking bike

Range varies according to weight carried (user + load), gradient, wind and outside temperature.

Our tests have enabled us to estimate maximum range on gently undulating terrain and without load (without pannier or trailer):

Mode 1 (eco): up to 150km
Mode 2 (tour): up to 100km
Mode 3 (sport): up to 65km
Mode 4 (boost): up to 40km

Integrated, removable battery

Lithium-ion battery 36v - 504 Wh.

Locked into the frame of the bike for better integration and protection.

Quick key release (3 keys supplied) for recharging. Integrated carrying handle.

Equipped with SAMSUNG cells, renowned for their high level of reliability and safety.

Guaranteed 500 charging cycles without loss of autonomy.

Weight 3.1 kg

Compatible with 360Wh battery extension, sold separately. Order no.: 8655251

Battery recharge

Recharge directly on or off the bike.

Fully charged in 7h with the 2A charger supplied.

Compatible with Rockrider 4A charger for faster charging (Ref.: 8753941).

Can you drive with a flat battery?

Yes, if the battery is discharged or missing, the weight of the bike and the presence of the motor make it less rideable than a traditional mountain bike. But it's still rideable for troubleshooting.

Dust- and rain-resistant electrical & electronic components.

All electrical components (controller, motor, battery, etc.) are resistant to dust and rain (IPX-5).

In particular, you can leave your bike in the rain without a battery. Any water that might enter through the hole left by the missing battery will run off the bike and not damage the components.

Do not wash with a high-pressure water jet.

Integrated lighting

Press the down arrow next to the bike's display for 3 seconds to switch on the light.

Lighting powered by the bike's battery:
- AXA NXT60 LED headlight. Power 60 lux.
- LED rear light fixed to rear mudguard.

The rear light remains active (at reduced power) 4 minutes after switching off the bike.

Color control screen

Color display located on the handlebar to the left of the stem.

Available information:
- instantaneous speed
- motor power & user power
- battery percentage
- estimated remaining range (in km)
- distance covered on the trip (manual reset to 0)
- total distance of the bike

Choose your version: high-span or low-span?

We have designed 2 versions of the e-actv 500:

- Low-frame version: The low-frame version is very easy to straddle. All you need to do is lift your leg 43 cm. This is an undeniable advantage, especially when using a baby carrier.
- High-frame version: The high-frame version is stiffer and offers more precise steering, especially on uneven roads and when you're carrying a lot of weight.

The high-frame version will be available in summer 2024.

Choose your e-actv 500 size

Sizes available on the low-frame version:
Size S from 1.50 m to 1.65 m.
Size M from 1.66 m to 1.77 m.
Size L from 1.78 m to 1.90 m.

Sizes available on the high-frame version:
Size M from 1.66 m to 1.77 m.
Size L from 1.78 m to 1.90 m.
Size XL from 1.90 m to 2.01 m.

If you're between 2 sizes:
Choose the smaller size for a more upright position.
Choose the larger size for a more reclined position.

Adjustable handlebar position

The handlebar position is adjustable by adjusting the angle of the stem using an allen key.

Raise the stem for a more upright back position. Lower it for a sportier position.

Gallows:
- Length 90 mm, diameter: 31.8 mm
- Stem angle adjustment: from -10° (plunging) to +60° (raised)

Derailleur Microshift Acolyte

We chose the Acolyte derailleur for its sturdiness.

8 speeds: Limiting the transmission to 8 speeds means that the sprockets are wider and therefore sturdier.

"Single click" selector: Avoids too-rapid gear changes under stress, which can damage the chain.

12x42 cassette: We opted for a cassette whose smallest sprocket has 12 teeth rather than 11. This choice extends the life of the cassette.

Transmission in detail

Details:
- 8-speed cassette MICROSHIFT H083 12x42 teeth
- Mono chainring: Miranda 38-tooth anti-derailleur chainring (3D chain flow)

Saddle

Saddle Rockrider Trekking long duration.

We have carried out morphological studies to understand the support zones for different morphologies. We designed the volume of the saddle and selected the foam to distribute these support zones as evenly as possible. The saddle was then tested in real-life conditions and modified in response to feedback from testers.

Aluminum frame

Aluminum frame.

The main tube is gravity cast. This technology enables us to produce a main tube of complex shape and variable thickness. This allows us to reinforce the tube where necessary to ensure the rigidity and strength of the frame.

Maximum tire size compatible with mudguard: 700x47mm

Disc brakes

Hydraulic disc brakes TEKTRO T280 (diameter 160 mm front and rear).
Hydraulic braking is more precise and easier to control than cable braking.

Flat aluminum pedals

We've chosen wide, flat pedals for greater comfort and stability.
Aluminum pedals.

Optional luggage rack

The bike has universal attachment points. It is compatible with most luggage racks on the market.

We have developed a luggage rack 100% adapted to the e-actv 500 (ref. 8828232). It simply attaches to the frame with 4 screws, with no need for adjustment.

Stand

The stand is attached to the rear chainstay. To allow the bike to be handled without the pedals getting caught in the stand.

Maximum load supported by the stand: 35 kg.

Mudguard

Mudguards ensure a constant 6mm gap between tire and mudguard. They make it possible to drive on dirt roads without mud jamming between the tire and the mudguard.

Compatible accessories

Compatible with:
- bottle cage: 1 slot on frame. For a second bottle cage, we recommend using a textile bottle cage on the handlebars.
- rear luggage rack: Compatible with most luggage racks on the market. We recommend our dedicated luggage rack (ref. 8828232)
- frame lock (ref. 8735625)
