Integrated 2G/Wifi/Bluetooth connectivity
This electric bike is equipped with an internal box that allows you to connect your bike to your smartphone and convert it into a "Super Bike"...
This way, you can obtain the precise situation of your bike at a given moment and be warned in real time if your bike is stolen.
This technology has been developed by our industrial partner AXA Security, based in the Netherlands and specialized in bike security (lighting and anti-theft systems) for over 100 years.
Connectivity costs
The connectivity needed to locate your bike comes at a price: SIM card, 2G consumption, processing of bike usage data, etc.
This service is offered to you the first year you purchase your bike, and is then subject to a fee (from the second year of use), but with no commitment!
From the second year onwards, you can choose whether or not to subscribe to this package (€24/year), enabling you to use the functions of the Decathlon Geocover app.
What's the point of having a "connected" bike?
A "connected" bike is an "augmented" bike with superpowers!
This type of bike lets you benefit from a range of functions and services that are not available on a "classic", unconnected bike.
For example, you can be warned when a third party touches your bike, or when it moves without your knowledge...
Other useful functions for cyclists are offered, and new ones will be added regularly. So these are evolutionary bikes!
CONNECTED anti-theft solution
In the near future, you'll be able to take out a low-cost insurance policy and benefit from comprehensive protection (accident, damage, theft, etc.) including an EXCLUSIVE Bike Recovery service.
In the event of theft, you'll be notified directly via the Decathlon Geocover app, and you can request the intervention of a private security service that will locate your bike and bring it back to you (if authorized by the local authorities). If the operation is unsuccessful, you will be reimbursed by your insurance.
What's the point of a Bike Recovery service if you have theft insurance? (Service offered in some countries)
The Bike Recovery service allows you to recover your bike very quickly in most cases (48 hours on average).
Theft insurance alone can of course be taken out, but the cost of this is higher when a Bike Recovery service is not included, as the risk of not recovering the stolen bike is very high in this case...
Engine
Brose 36 volt Drive C Mag central motor, 250 watts. Belt drive for quieter motor operation.
Maximum motor torque of 50 Nm. This value is used to assess the ease with which the bike will get through certain difficulties (a climb, for example).
The motor is coupled to a torque sensor to adjust electric assistance on the basis of pedaling motion and pedal pressure, like a car accelerator pedal.
Assistance control
An LED LCD control console accessible from the left of the handlebars so you can keep your hands on your handlebars and choose between the 3 levels of assistance:
Mode Off - Deactivated (the battery is not used).
Mode 1 - Economy: up to 70% assistance;
Mode 2 - Normal: up to 140% assistance;
Mode 3 - Sport: up to 280% assistance.
"Walk" mode: accompanies you when you walk alongside it (assistance up to 6 km/h).
Other screen features
Remaining range in percentage.
Display of:
Instantaneous speed,
Total distance (ODO),
Daily distance (TRIP: reset to zero by pressing the "-" button for several seconds,
Distance that can be covered with remaining range depending on the mode used (TRIP TO GO").
You can also switch on the headlights, which activate the display's backlighting.
Integrated USB port under the display to maintain the charge level of a smartphone or rechargeable battery.
Battery
Battery secured by key (two keys supplied). The battery is also removable for easy recharging (at the office, for example).
Autonomy
Autonomies are indicative and given for a person weighing 70 kg on a relatively flat route.
NB: Autonomy is likely to vary according to the weight carried (user weight + pannier/pannier weight), the gradient (climbs) and weather conditions (cold reduces battery autonomy).
Gear change Shimano Nexus
This type of gearshift system is designed to allow you to change gear while stationary, without pedaling. This makes restarting easier, especially when the bike is loaded.
This system is also insensitive to shocks, as it is completely integrated into the hub of the rear wheel, and requires very little maintenance.
It is operated very simply via a turning handle.
ATTENTION: this system requires you to stop pedaling (1 second) in order to change gear.

The handlebars are compatible with our 500 12L front basket.
This bike has not been tested or approved for use with a trailer.
How does a VAE work?
A VAE (Vélo à Assistance Electrique - electrically assisted bicycle) helps you pedal without breaking a sweat. So, for the motor to accompany you, you need to pedal.
The switched-on motor accompanies you at a maximum speed of 25km/h and stops as soon as you stop pedaling.
If you don't want the assistance, you can switch it off at any time to pedal as you would on a conventional bike.
Your VAE has also been tested for riding in the rain.
What size bike should I choose?
"2 sizes available, 2 frame shapes, high or low.
Size S/M: from 1m55 to 1m75
Size L/XL: from 1m75 to 1m95
If you are between two sizes, the larger size will offer a more comfortable high position.
Bike weight
(incl. pedals and battery):
in size S/M: 26.08kg (low frame) and 25.2kg (high frame)
in size L/XL: 26.58kg (low frame) and 25.88kg (high frame)
Maximum operating weight
This electrically-assisted bicycle (EAB) has been validated to EN 15194 for a maximum weight of 150 kg (bicycle weight + user weight + load carried).
How to recharge a VAE?
The removable battery, secured with a key, can be recharged from a mains socket either on the bike or by removing it from the bike. A charger is supplied on the bike for this purpose.
A full charge when completely discharged takes 5 hours.
Maintenance/Storage
A Li-Ion battery should ideally be charged regularly, without waiting until it is completely discharged.
A battery that is not used for a long time should ideally be stored in "deep standby" mode, charged to 80%. Otherwise, a charge every 3 months maximum is recommended.
The battery should ideally be stored in a dry, temperate place (25°C) for optimum operation and storage.
Transport
Batteries no longer in use in France can be dropped off at your local Decathlon workshop.
Lithium-Ion batteries are subject to special transport regulations (boat, plane).
An MSDS document specific to your battery is available on request from our cycle teams Decathlon.
After-sales parts availability
10-year availability of electrical parts (motor, battery, electrical components) or backwards-compatibility guarantee in the event of modification.
Maintenance tips
1) Before carrying out any work on your VAE (electrical or mechanical maintenance), you must switch off your VAE and remove the battery.
2) Occasional maintenance of the transmission (chain must be cleaned and lubricated)
3)Do not use a high-pressure cleaner.
Storage tips
It is advisable to store the bike in a place protected from the outside or covered with a tarpaulin.
It is also advisable to remove the battery from the bike and store it in a cool place when not in use for extended periods, as specified in the user manual.
Restrictions
As the marine or humid environment (air, sea spray) is extremely corrosive to mechanical and metal parts, we strongly recommend regular lubrication of the entire bicycle drivetrain, as well as the occasional wiping with a damp cloth to remove any salt deposits or traces of moisture that may have settled there.
Luggage rack restrictions
This bike's luggage rack is approved for carrying loads not exceeding 27 kg.
Do not carry an adult seated on it.
Design
Designed in Lille by a team of engineers and designers and assembled in Portugal.
A word from the team
"This first Decathlon connected bike is first and foremost an effective response to the problem of bike theft, making electric bikes a real, sustainable alternative to internal combustion-powered vehicles. This technical solution also makes it possible to benefit from new services not available with a NON-connected bike. Ultimately, these are intelligent, upgradable "augmented" bicycles that contribute to a more pleasant, safe and practical everyday cycling experience.
