A modular hunting jacket with removable zip-off sleeves
Very early on in the development process, we wanted this jacket to transform easily, quickly and intuitively into a vest. Indeed, when you're hunting intensively on the plains or in the middle of the garrigue, you can quickly become hot (even when the mercury is low). We therefore worked on technical solutions to meet these usage constraints: being able to unzip the sleeves seemed the most appropriate solution.
How can you tell the right sleeve from the left once they've been removed?
When you're out hunting, behind your hounds with your nose to the ground, looking for the scent of a pheasant or partridge, you can decide at any time to remove your sleeves (and place them in the 2 large front pockets closed by 2 snap fasteners). But once you've returned to your vehicle, you may be tempted to put the sleeves back on. So as not to mix left and right, we've contrasted one of the two zips (left side) in orange. Clever, eh?
How did we come up with the idea of designing this jacket with its innovative ventilation system?
The idea for this jacket came from our designers and hunting engineers, who thought that the range should include a hybrid jacket (which could be converted into a vest at any time). All the while maintaining a technical, breathable product. For the first prototypes and tests, our teams started with an all-mesh jacket, to which reinforced parts were applied. Then, as development progressed, we turned to laser cutting.
The choice of laser perforation to facilitate ventilation and better wick away perspiration
We had to find a compromise between an all-mesh fabric (light but fragile to abrasion) and a breathable fabric. After a great deal of research, testing and creation, we found the ideal component, and laser perforation by machine enabled us to make holes in it. The holes are located at the top of the back and inside the 2 large front pockets (in other words, at the most important sweat points), making this jacket a highly efficient garment in terms of breathability.
What does this mean in terms of resistance?
Breathability and ease of movement on a hunting garment are great. But it's even better when it's also resistant to the biotope you may encounter. That's why, after mapping the areas most exposed to vegetation, we reinforced the shoulders, arms and bottom of the jacket with polyamide. Its strength? Its resistance! That's why it's often blended with other textile materials to give fabrics added strength.
8 clever pockets for all your hunting accessories
With this jacket, we needed to find technical solutions that would make it easier for the hunter to use, while retaining a sporting spirit. That's why it has 8 pockets: 2 secure inside pockets with zips, 2 large chest pockets, 2 bottle pockets on the back, 2 lower front pockets (with snap fasteners) with a cartridge pouch for carrying 5 rounds of ammunition (10 in total with the two pockets). Freedom of movement: an important feature that has also been taken into account with this model.
The first thing our modellers did was to place a double slider on the central front zipper. Not only does this allow you to open the jacket from the top or bottom, while leaving one end open, it also gives you greater freedom of movement if you need to kneel, for example.
The little extras of this all-purpose jacket
Our hunting jacket features a ring on the right-hand side for carrying a bird carrier. The cuffs are elasticated and velcro-adjustable. The top features 2 remote control holders. At the back, a large game pouch with 3 zips (two side zips and one horizontal zipper for full opening) provides easy access to game. The inner fabric makes for easy washing and cleaning.
