WATERPROOFNESS TEST WATER COLUMN (so-called "Schmerber" test)
We measure a fabric's resistance to water pressure expressed in mm water column (test based on JIS 1092B standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric.
With a waterproof rating of 15,000mm, our 500 jacket offers a very good level of waterproofing.
A component with a waterproof rating of 15,000mm can withstand an applied pressure of 1.5 Bar.
WATERPROOF SHOWER TEST:
In our view, this test is the most representative, since a product made from a highly waterproof fabric can get water through its seams, flaps or zips...
In this test, the products are placed under a shower to test their overall waterproofness.
Our 500 jacket protects you from a heavy thunderstorm (i.e. 30 cm of rain in 3 hours).
BREATHABILITY TEST R.E.T.
Breathability is measured by the coefficient of Thermal Evaporative Resistance (T.E.R.). It measures a fabric's resistance to moisture evaporation. The lower this resistance (and therefore the coefficient), the more breathable the fabric! (test BASED on ISO 11092 standard).
Our waterproof 500 jacket, with an index of 9, is therefore breathable and perfectly suited to effort.
