The 4 layers to keep you warm when mountain biking.
How do you stay warm and dry on your winter mountain bike tour?
We explain the 4-layer technique for the upper body:
Start with a layer of underwear.
For the second layer, place your bib shorts on top.
Then your jacket takes care of the third layer, and in case of bad weather, a rain jacket provides the fourth layer.
Ready? You're ready for a comfortable winter ride on your mountain bike.
Clever design: cut, seams, materials...
The bib on the back comes down to saddle height to protect you from splashes.
The diagonal cut on the shoulders gives you more freedom of movement.
The non-slip waistband keeps the jacket close to you. Foam-fitted neck and wrist straps provide added comfort and protection.
Different fabrics provide warmth, ventilation and durability.
And full-zip closures can be opened and closed with just one hand, even with gloves on!
No need for a water bag!
A water bottle holder on the frame and you're ready to ride light! Thanks to its pocket system, this jacket lets you ride with nothing on your back.
- 1 vertical front pocket, secure and waterproof for your smartphone, accessible with one hand, even with your gloves on!
- 1 secure rear pocket for your keys, your papers...
- 1 side pocket for an inner tube and a hand pump.
- And 2 side pockets for your cereal bars... and empty packaging!
How we tested the ST 500 jacket... with you!
To design this product, we surveyed mountain bike clubs in 5 countries. The result was 50 hours of interviews and 1,000 user surveys, to provide the best possible answer to the question: "What do you expect from a mountain bike jacket in winter?".
Once the prototypes had been designed, it was time for user tests. The focus is on your feedback and experience, so that we can offer you a product that meets your needs.
The design team's advice:
Any last words of advice for the road (or rather, the trails)? "The most important thing is to be well equipped... or well accompanied!"
To avoid any surprises and to prevent your mountain bike ride from turning into a long walk, remember to prepare yourself against technical glitches and unforeseen events. With peace of mind, you'll enjoy nature all the more!
