How will this jacket keep my child warm?
We are carrying out a comparative study in a thermal laboratory under walking conditions with light winds (5km/h).
The comfort temperature is the air temperature calculated so that 70% of users have a "slightly warm" thermal sensation.
For this jacket, it is 0°C.
However, each individual has his or her own sensitivity to cold.
How does my jacket protect me from the elements?
Your jacket has been designed with a waterproof outer component that blocks the passage of water and wind. To stay warm in winter, you also need to protect your extremities (head, hands, feet). The warm, waterproof hood, elasticated cuffs and high collar keep the cold out. Two pockets protect your hands from the cold.
How should I dress for snow hiking?
To dress properly in winter, whatever your activity, we recommend applying the 3-layer principle:
layer 1: technical undergarments allow moisture transfer to keep the skin dry.
layer 2: the second layer (fleece, sweater) provides warmth and moisture transfer.
layer 3: the jacket protects against external conditions: rain, snow, wind.
The whole garment must be breathable to evacuate moisture.
How can I be sure that my jacket is 100% waterproof?
The waterproofness of a fabric, ensured by a coating or membrane, is measured in Schmerber or mm H²0 (pressure exerted by a column of water). The higher the number, the more waterproof the fabric.
This jacket features a waterproof component (JIS 1092 standard) resistant to 5,000 mm H²0 (Schmerber) before washing.
What does "Sealed main seams" mean?
The seams of a jacket can be taped to prevent water from seeping through.
Here, the main seams are taped, corresponding to the seams of the hood, collar, shoulders, armholes and chest.
Windbreaker :
The fabric is made waterproof and therefore windproof by applying a coating or membrane to its inner surface. In fact, a waterproof fabric has the technical characteristics to be certified windproof. It's very important to be protected from the wind, whether you're active or resting, because it cools the body enormously.
How can I preserve the technical qualities of my jacket?
A fabric's water repellency is its ability to let water slide off its surface without absorbing it. This means the fabric doesn't become waterlogged, and remains light, breathable and warm. Water repellency is achieved by a treatment applied to the outer face of the fabric. This treatment needs to be renewed over the life of the garment (we recommend every wash). Products (spray or liquid) are available for this purpose in our stores.
