Our commitment to using less water with this product
Textile dyeing requires a great deal of water, and also discharges wastewater from the dye baths. To reduce this impact on the environment, we have chosen to dye in the mass, integrating the color pigments as early as the yarn manufacturing process: a process known as "Dope dyed".
This process is used on black (code 8554069) and navy (code 8505020).
Your health at the heart of our design
We have changed the composition of our water-repellent treatments to use PFC (perfluorocarbon) free technologies. PFC is used to make a textile water-repellent, but it generates a lot of toxicity for the environment and people. By substituting PFC with other technologies we are developing to deliver the same level of performance, we are helping to reduce this environmental impact.
Waterproof clothing
The fabric of this jacket has a waterproof rating of 2000 mm.
This jacket has been validated in a shower test under 60 liters of water / m² / hour for 1h: it protects you from a small shower, i.e. 6cm of rain in 1h.
We measure the resistance of a fabric to water pressure expressed in mm of water column (test based on ISO 811). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A component with a waterproof rating of 2000 mm will therefore withstand the pressure exerted by 2000 mm of water.
How do you maintain the waterproof durability of your jacket?
For long-lasting water-repellency, we recommend reactivating the water-repellency system regularly.
You can do this every third wash (a thorough rinse is essential), or after ten or so washes in the rain.
You can easily reactivate the water-repellency system when it's hot:
- with your tumble dryer for 15 minutes (synthetic program) - with a hair dryer at a distance of 20 cm, going back and forth 2 times
- or 2 times with the iron, set to delicate without steam function.
Breathability
RET < 20 = tissu respirant
RET > 20 = tissu peu ou pas respirant.
How to choose your waterproof jacket according to your sport and effort
This rain jacket is designed for a 2-hour hike at a maximum pace of 5 km/h, with no change in altitude.
During sporting activities, we sweat more or less depending on the intensity and length of the effort. If the breathability of the fabric is not adapted to the effort, perspiration vapor condenses inside the jacket. You're wet on the inside: it's not the rain that penetrates, but the perspiration vapor that condenses. You need to choose your rain jacket according to the type of effort you'll be making.
Recommended complementary product
To protect your lower body as well, we recommend the NH500 men's overtrousers, a highly effective all-round package for protection against wind and showers. These overtrousers are also eco-designed (depending on color, dyeing process in the mass limiting the use of water or recycled fibers).
