Component heat
A product's ability to protect against the cold. This depends on the component's thermal resistance and air permeability. The higher the thermal resistance, the more the product retains the heat generated by the body while cycling.
Component breathability
Component water repellency, not to be confused with impermeability
Waterproofing is the ability of a fabric to stop rain from passing through.
Water repellency is the ability of a fabric to allow water to bead up and/or run off its surface. The product absorbs little or no moisture, dries faster and does not weigh down. Water repellency can have a positive dirt-repellent effect.
Water repellency is achieved by a treatment applied to the outer face of the fabric.
