Kubb is a game of skill with strategic elements. It symbolizes a battle in which two opposing groups fight for their king. Played in its current form since around 1990, it is particularly popular in Sweden and Norway, but is also not uncommon in German-speaking countries.
Before the game begins, two teams are formed, each consisting of between 1 and 6 players.
The traditional playing field is 5 x 8 meters. However, this size can be freely chosen to suit the players' abilities. The area can be marked out with boundary markers. Kubb can be played on all kinds of surfaces, including grass, sand, snow and solid surfaces.
Five kubbs spaced about one meter apart form the base line on each side. The king stands in the middle of the playing field.
The two teams position themselves facing each other on either side behind their respective baselines, which are formed by the kubbs (baseline or base kubbs) in place.
A game consists of several rounds. The team starting the first round of the game is chosen at random. After that, the right to throw the first throw changes per game round.
