Choose Your Power Source: The Engine Makes the Difference

The motor you choose plays a crucial role in the way you experience your ride. There are two possible positions for the electric bike motor.

• 1- Rear-wheel motor: For a riding feel similar to that of a traditional bike, consider a rear-wheel motor. Ideal for city riding and flat terrain.
• 2- Pedal-level motors (central hubs): If you're looking for better balance and grip, opt for pedal-level motors, also known as central hubs.

Don't forget to consider torque, measured in Newton-meters (Nm). Torque ranges from 30 Nmp forless powerful motors to an impressive 99 Nm for top-of-the-range models, which determines the level of assistance you'll get.

Battery life: The range you need

When it comes to your electric bike, battery autonomy is a decisive factor. Battery capacity, measured in Watt-hours (Wh), can vary from 100 Wh to over 600 Wh at Decathlon. This capacity directly influences the distance you can cover on a single charge, offering electric assistance over a range from 20 km to over 80 km, depending on your battery and assistance settings (eco, medium, turbo).

Don't forget to take into account the battery's charging time and lifespan. Some models offer fast charging for daily commuting, and with proper maintenance, your battery can last for many years, ensuring the longevity of your investment.
