Energy bars
Taking the form of a solid food, energy bars are particularly popular with sportspeople, who consume them before training to keep their energy levels up. Providing carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins, they are considered the solid alternative to energy drinks. Unlike cereal bars, which have an appetite-suppressant effect, and hyper-protein bars, which provide protein, energy bars aim to boost your sporting performance tenfold during training or intense physical effort. If you're looking for an energy boost before or after your sports session, DECATHLON offers a wide range of energy bars in a variety of flavours: white chocolate, nougat, peanuts, banana, figs, goji berries, strawberry, lemon, hazelnut, vanilla, red fruit, etc.

Why eat energy bars?
Like energy drinks and gels, energy bars are a fast, long-lasting source of energy to support a sportsperson's physical and mental performance. Indeed, sportsmen and women mainly consume energy bars to compensate for the energy losses caused by relatively intense physical effort.
Providing carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins, energy bars help sportsmen and women maintain their energy levels throughout training, and limit the risk of hypoglycemic falls. With their main effect of reducing mental and muscular fatigue, energy bars also help to maintain glucose levels in the body and sustain performance throughout physical activity. At DECATHLON, you can choose from a variety of flavours, from nougat to marzipan and red fruit.
Whatever your tastes, you can opt for energy bars that you'll enjoy consuming before, during or after your sports session. If you're training outdoors, energy bars are very easy to carry, as you can simply slip them into your jacket pocket, trail belt or backpack. They are also appreciated by people with digestive problems, as they are reputed to be very easy to digest.
How do I eat energy bars?
Generally speaking, sportsmen and women prefer to consume energy bars before or during a workout, in order to benefit from a real energy boost that will enhance their sporting performance during their workout. If you're thinking of adding energy bars to your diet, we recommend that you consume 1 gram of carbohydrate per hour and per kilo of body weight to reap the full benefits of this dietary supplement. The number of energy bars you consume will also depend on the duration of your sports session.
If you train for more than 2 hours, we recommend you eat a 20-gram energy bar every 30 minutes. On the other hand, if your training is shorter, remember to space out your energy bars so that they have a positive effect on your body and provide you with the energy you need. When choosing energy bars from DECATHLON, you can opt for packs containing between 3 and 84 energy bars, or buy them individually.
