What is the purpose of weighted vests?

Many experienced sportsmen and women use a weighted vest - also known as a weighted jacket - in their physical activities. This specific accessory adds extra weight to the body. The aim: to increase the intensity of exercises when they become too simple for the athlete to perform. Whether you're preparing for basketball, handball, soccer, rugby or other matches, or taking part in weight training and related disciplines (cross fit, cross training), wearing a weighted vest helps to build muscle mass and considerably improve performance.

An alternative: weighted bags

Weighted vests are particularly well-suited to bodybuilding exercises that require a high degree of mobility on your part. For more immobile sessions, you can use a weighted bag. The principle is identical: extra weight (5 kg, 10 kg, 20 kg, etc.) is added to your body as you perform exercises such as lunges and squats. The weighted bag is usually filled with sand to modulate its weight, and handled with a strap. It can be used by both men and women, whatever their level of fitness.
